David Pilbeam
David Pilbeam (born 21 November 1940 in Brighton, Sussex, England) is the Henry Ford II Professor of the Social Sciences at Harvard University and curator of paleoanthropology at the Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences. He received his Ph.D. from Yale University. Biography Pilbeam has produced numerous publications related to hominoid evolution since the mid-1960s, with some of his papers reprinted in later books. In the 1970s, he was a co-discoverer, in the Potwar Plateau of Pakistan, of a nearly complete skull subsequently described as belonging to ''Sivapithecus indicus'', an extinct Late Miocene great ape, on which he published several papers. In 2005, in honour of his 65th birthday, Pilbeams' students, colleagues, collaborators and friends assembled a collection to honour his work. Hatchie
Harriette Pilbeam (born 4 May 1993), known professionally as Hatchie, is an Australian singer-songwriter and musician. She has released an EP, '' Sugar & Spice'' (2018) and two studio albums: '' Keepsake'' (2019) and ''Giving the World Away'' (2022). History Harriette Pilbeam was born on 4 May 1993 in Brisbane. She started singing as a child, later learning guitar and bass in her teen years, as well as piano and clarinet later on. She studied entertainment, music, and management in college before pursuing live music as a creative outlet. She is the bassist and vocalist of the indie rock band Babaganouj, as well as a former member of the band Go Violets, which disbanded in 2014. Pilbeam made her solo debut under the name Hatchie, her family nickname, with the release of her debut single "Try" in May 2017. The single gained her significant attention in her native Australia. Mike Pilbeam
Mike Pilbeam (born 1937) is a British motorsport designer and engineer known for his work with BRM, Lotus, Surtees and his own company, Pilbeam Racing Designs. An early design was the experimental four wheel drive Formula One BRM P67 of 1964. , Pilbeam's company continued to produce hillclimb cars and sports prototype chassis for endurance racing. Biography Formula One Pilbeam spent much of his early life in West London, and had little interest in competition cars until he attended the 1958 British Grand Prix, whilst at Bristol University. In 1959, he constructed a small sportscar with which he competed himself, but without much success. However a later design and an association with club racer Tony Gould brought some success in the class. In 1963, he joined BRM as a stress engineer. Pilbeam Racing Designs is a British company which designs and constructs racing cars, based in the Lincolnshire town of Bourne. The company was founded in 1975 by Mike Pilbeam. Early career Previously Pilbeam worked in Formula One for several teams, having latterly been Chief Designer for BRM (also based in Bourne), producing the P201. Nova Pilbeam
Nova Margery Pilbeam (15 November 1919 – 17 July 2015) was an English film and stage actress. She played leading roles in two Alfred Hitchcock films of the 1930s, and made her last film in 1948. Early life Pilbeam was born in Wimbledon, Surrey (now part of the London Borough of Merton). Her parents were Arnold Pilbeam, an actor and theatre manager, and Margery Stopher Pilbeam. ''Time'' magazine reported that the actress, whose first name was an homage to her maternal grandmother from Nova Scotia, opted to keep her birth name, which she considered far less ridiculous than "Myrna Loy" or "Greta Garbo". Rex Pilbeam
Reginald Byron Jarvis "Rex" Pilbeam (30 October 1907 – 31 July 1999) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly and long-serving mayor of Rockhampton. Biography Pilbeam was born at Longreach, Queensland, the son of John Thomas Pilbeam and his wife Ellen (née Tonks). He was educated at Emu Park State School before attending Rockhampton High School and then earned his accountancy and secretarial qualifications by external studies. He became a practising public accountant and joined the Australian Army in 1944, serving with the 61st Australian Infantry Battalion and being discharged the next year with the rank of Staff Sergeant. On 21 January 1927 Pilbeam married Barbara Winning Rose (died 1994) and together they had two sons. He died in Brisbane in July 1999 and was cremated at the Albany Creek Crematorium in Brisbane. Sally Pilbeam (1978) is an arm amputee Australian paratriathlete. In 2014, she won a gold medal at the 2014 World Triathlon Series Final in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Pilbeam was born in 1978 and lives in Perth, Western Australia. She is married and has two sons. In 2002, she lost her right arm at the shoulder due to cancer. She rides a modified bike in the cycling leg of paratriathlon events. In 2014, she is classified as a PT3 paratriathlete.
